Hurricane SANDY

As we all know, New York has been hit by a hurricane. The city has been flooded and has been asking for donations. Many companies have been donating money. For example Disney pledged $2 million. NBC is scheduled to have a one hour live special. ABC also announced that Monday, November 5th will be the "Day of Giving." They hope this will have an impact on the viewers and encourage them to donate.

This article is important because it gives very important information on current events that are happening in the world. It also shows how the media is used to inform people. New York is far away, by using the film media, anyone and everyone can find out what happens around the world. I specifically chose this article because I am aware of the situation happening in New York and it is very devastating. I also want to travel to New York one day to explore.

As a student, this article helps me stay informed with current situations and events happening in the world. This article also affects me as a future filmmaker because it shows me how mass media is used today. Mass media is a great way to help the viewers stay up to date with everything that happens around the world. As a consumer, this article shows me various types of film usage.

Questions: How much money will they raise to help New York? Will any other companies donate money as well? How many people will actually donate money?

  1. I agree, media is used to connect people across the nation and it's quite amazing. Mass media can have a negative and positive affect. It's nice to see sincerity about Hurricane Sandy and the Entertainment industry wanting to help out even though they already have lost some money.
I hope everyone's fine in New York >.<

You actually have a really interesting question, "how much money will be raised to help New York."

  3. It is interesting to see that media can now connect everyone all over the country. Decades ago, such an idea was absurd as many usually received news through newspaper and word of mouth. So it is nice to know that the media has various faces...it does not only focus on celebrities or sports, but also chooses to represent and inform audiences about the important happenings in the world.
