X Factor

The X Factor is nearly over, with only weeks left before the Season 2 finale. The finalist preformed on Wednesday hoping to make next weeks semifinals. Each contestant sang two songs, one which is chosen by their coach, and the other is chosen by an online vote. The coaches chose unplugged songs, which requires less movement, allowing the judges to hear the singers voice and any flaws. Many will agree that the online voted songs were better suited for the contestants styles. There was one contestant that really stood out to the judges. Carly Rose blow the judges away with her performance of "As Long as you Love me" by Justin Bieber. Demi Lavato stated that Carly sang the song better than Justin.

This article is important because it shows how television is used for entertainment, as well as endorsement. I specifically chose this article because I have watched the X Factor and I like watching the contestants sing and reaching for their dreams. As a student this article teaches me that no matter what, anyone, whether young or old, can chase after their dreams. As a future filmmaker, this article shows me the different ways media is used. It shows me that you don't have to just make movies to be in the entertainment business. This show is very popular and as a consumer it gives me an example of the type of shows that many people like to watch.

Questions I have are: who will be the winner of the X Factor? What happens to the runner up?

Disney Jr.'s Newest Princess

Sofia the First is the newest Disney Jr. show that tells the story of an adventurous girl who is adjusting into her new home. Her mother married the King and now she must learn how to be a Princess. The show will debut on January 11th. There was a series special a couple weeks ago that delivered 5.2million views. It seems like this show may be a huge hit.

This article caught my eye because my little sister watched the series special and she loved it. This seems like a good show for children to watch. As a future filmmaker this article introduces new stories and ideas that the current film industry is creating. Seeing the amount of views for the series special, I can imagine the show becoming a huge hit with the children. As a consumer this article would help me see what child show would be popular.

Questions I have are: How many viewers will this show get? Will this show be a success?

Breaking Records!

Twilight's Saga Breaking Dawn part 2 has sold out many show times internationally before the lease date. It has been in the top 3 most ticket sellers. Hollywood is expecting to make around $130 million to $150 million within the opening week. Breaking Dawn part 2 has been the most anticipated film of the year.

I chose this article specifically because it shows how much a movie can impact many people. It has effected many and has become a huge sensation. This article caught my eye because I have been anticipating this film and it is finally out.

This article has an impact on me as a student because it demonstrates the creative side of a person and it shows what creative writing can do. As a future filmmaker this article shows how much success this movie has become. This article also affects me as a consumer because the article makes me want to watch the movie.

Questions: How much money will the movie make? How will the Twi-Hards react to the screening of the  movie? Is Stephanie Myer happy with her outcome of her books?

The Breaking Dawn Part 2 Premiere!!(:

Part 2 of Breaking Dawn premiers next Monday and fans are already starting to line up. Every year  people camp outside the Nokia Theater, located in L.A, when Summit releases one of Stephanie Meyer's Twilight Saga novels as a film. Being the end of all Twilight Saga's this premiere has  the largest camping rate, (it has doubled over the last year). The studio has planned various activities to help entertain the fan while they camp for the next couple of days.

I have chosen this article because it discusses the events taking place in downtown L.A. It also shows the amount of fans that a movie has gotten. This article caught my eye because I am a Twilight fan myself and although I have never camped outside to watch  premiere, I have seen all the Twilight Saga movies and I cannot wait to see this last movie!

This article impacts many students because it discusses how popular these movies have become and many fans don't just watch the movies, they read the books as well. As a future filmmaker, I hope that my future films will be as popular as these movies. As a consumer I would want to consider how this film impacts many people throughout the world.

Questions(:
Will the fans have fun with the activities planned for them? Will the movie be a huge success just like everyone predicts? What will the critics think of the movie?

The List of activities:

Friday 10:30 AM – Jamba Juice will host a morning workout for campers on the Nokia Plaza L.A. LIVE with award-winning fitness instructors, a Twilight-themed workout, with smoothie samples. New Moon and Eclipse both screen.
Saturday 1 PM – The Twilight Fan Camp Concert presented by Time Warner Cable with performances by A Boy and His Kite, Anya Marina, Paul McDonald & Nikki Reed, and Christina Perri. Breaking Dawn Part 1 screens.
Sunday 10:30 AM – Fans will be treated to breakfast from The Corner Bakery sponsored by Time Warner Cable with surprise appearances from the cast.

Must see!

Hurricane SANDY

As we all know, New York has been hit by a hurricane. The city has been flooded and has been asking for donations. Many companies have been donating money. For example Disney pledged $2 million. NBC is scheduled to have a one hour live special. ABC also announced that Monday, November 5th will be the "Day of Giving." They hope this will have an impact on the viewers and encourage them to donate.

This article is important because it gives very important information on current events that are happening in the world. It also shows how the media is used to inform people. New York is far away, by using the film media, anyone and everyone can find out what happens around the world. I specifically chose this article because I am aware of the situation happening in New York and it is very devastating. I also want to travel to New York one day to explore.

As a student, this article helps me stay informed with current situations and events happening in the world. This article also affects me as a future filmmaker because it shows me how mass media is used today. Mass media is a great way to help the viewers stay up to date with everything that happens around the world. As a consumer, this article shows me various types of film usage.

Questions: How much money will they raise to help New York? Will any other companies donate money as well? How many people will actually donate money?

Breaking Dawn Part 2

Opening on November 16th, Breaking Dawn Part 2 seems to be the highest tracking film. It is estimated to make breaking records in the box offices. Already having an advanced ticket sale 16% ahead, this seems to be the highest movie through out all the twilight saga's. Everyone is well aware of this movie and Summit Entertainment is hoping this movie will make more money than Part 1 on the opening week. Nikki Finki, editor of the article, claims that the movie is a huge success due to the "on-again, off-again, now-again real relationship between Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson."

This article is important because it informs the reader of a highly known and high record movie. It discusses the success through out the twilight saga's. I specifically chose this article because I am a Twilight fan and i have seen all the movies. I have been waiting for part 2 and I can not wait to go see it.

As a student, this article impacts me because the movie being discusses has influence me to read the novels.  In the future when if i become a filmmaker this article helps me stay involved in the film industry by informing me about high rating movies. As a consumer, this article keeps me informed on the top box office films.

By reading this article I have developed a few questions: As predicted, will this movie have the highest ratings in the box office? Does Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson's real relationship have an impact on this films success? Did Kristen and Robert get back together just as publicity stunt?

Disney and ABC win Prizes(:

Disney and ABC television both won the "industry star's"  top prize at the Mobile Excellence Awards. The awards were given out last night in conjunction with the Digital Hollywood conference in Marina del Rey. Disney/ABC also won an the Best Content Extension Made for Mobile due to their "Mickey Mouse Road Rally Appisode.”

This article is important because it informs us about different awards that are given out. I honestly never knew about the Mobile Excellence Awards until I read this article. This article caught my eye because I saw the words Disney and ABC which are t.v. channels I use to watch. As a future filmmaker this article has an impact on me because it informed me about the various awards that are given out. As a consumer, I would like to see if any of my films will be able to win an award. Questions I have are: What other types of awards are given? Why don't many people know about this? How long have the Mobile Excellence Awards been going?
